Georgie goes where "her" veterans need for her to be, from hospitals and homeless shelters to the seats of power. She has met with President George Bush, Senator Bob Dole and Senator John Kerry among others (see pictures to the right).
Her meeting with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), however, reflects something special about her commitment to fair play and honesty. There was a confusion among Senator Clinton's staff regarding an appointment with the Gold Star Mothers. Some people seized upon the misunderstanding for political reasons, and as you can read here, an inaccurate account of Senator Clinton's alleged refusal to meet with the Gold Star Mothers was spread by e-mail. Georgie set the record straight:
The American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., deeply regret the misunderstanding about Senator Hillary Clinton. The two mothers who visited Washington did not have an appointment with the Senator and she was not in her office on that day.
We would appreciate it if the e-mails and negative comments about Senator Clinton would cease.
