When work began on this website, which involved sorting through a great many pictures, facts, and feelings, the then-webmaster said that Candy's portrait of Georgie and Bruce together, commemorating the sacrifices and suffering of each of them, was so powerful that it gave the website its focus.  Candy deserves credit for a special role in creating  this site by creating her powerful painting.
Right, artist Candy Haworth (center) dedicates her portrait of Bruce and Georgie (seen on the opening page of this website) to Georgie (left) in Washington, DC in September of 2001.  Already very ill, she never painted another picture and died in February 2002.  "She was my adopted daughter," Georgie says of Candy, "not on paper, but in my heart."
